VENICE RAILWAY TERMINAL

LOADING/UNLOADING WITH STACKER

Terminal operators are able to manage railways trades and Schengen and Extra Schengen mixed convoys in a dedicated area 36.000 sq. m wide.
Railway platform is provided with a 4 railways system (railtracks maximum length is about 700 m) connected with the national rail network in 2 section. Intermodal handling of trailers, containers and swap bodies from yard to train and vice versa is managed by reach stacker or gantry crane.

TRAILER PARKING AREA

Drivers can park trailers on a 210.000 sq. m parking area to be loaded to the ship; terminal yard staff organizes in/out and Schengen/Extra Schengen convoys through the gates. Parking lot dedicated to trailer pick-up/drop-off is equipped with small electrical columns for trailers, containers and cold-containers.

SHIP LOADING/UNLOADING

Venice Ro-Port staff manages ship loading and unloading activities organizing vehicles placement on the place specified in the loading plan and lashing loading unit (fixing them to deck to assure stability during navigation). External drivers transfer accompanied vehicles into the ship; terminal staff only handles in directing these vehicles to the ship and in lashing activities.

MECHANIC’S WORKSHOP

A mechanic’s workshop for all urgent repair services for trailers, trucks, trains and other vehicles in transit is fully equipped in Terminal area.

CONTROL AND SECURITY

On the whole terminal area (38 hectares) there will be video monitoring service, external intrusion detection system and Wi-Fi.
A control room, governing the whole IT system, is placed in one of the two entrance buildings.
Gates are provided with photographic vehicles detection, weight certification and size standards check. Border and documents control are permanently active.
